TALK / Living with Trees : In Conversation with Makino Yoshiyuki and Kevin Martin at Japan House London
How trees shape our environment and how we are affected by them. I explored with Kevin Martin, Head of Tree Collections at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. With the spread of Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing), the chemicals that trees release constituent benefits have become well known. However, the effects of chemicals wood release are less well known. By sharing the results of my research over the past few years, I hope to generate further interest worldwide and nd new uses for wood and sustainable lifestyles will spread.
樹木がいかに我々の環境を形成し、私たちがどう影響を受けているか。キュー王立植物園の樹木コレクション責任者、ケビン・マーティン氏と探求した。森林浴の広まりで、樹木が揮発する成分効能は知られるようになったが、木材からの揮発成分効能についてはほとんど知られていない。ここ数年の私の研究成果を共有することで、世界でさらなる関心を持たれ、木材の新たな活用や持続可能なライフスタイルが広がることを願う。
