HIDA Leather® began with a simple question: What if leather could age like wood—gracefully, meaningfully, and with a traceable story?
Inspired by vintage furniture, where time leaves beauty on both timber and leather,we set out to create a material that connects past and future through daily use.
Every hide comes from Hida-grown cattle—raised with care, then honored with purpose. Each piece is vegetable-tanned to preserve its natural grain, color, and texture. Rather than hiding imperfections, we embrace them as proof of life.
This is leather that invites your hand, listens to your habits, and grows with your time. Leather that holds a story—not just of origin, but of how it’s used and who it lives with.
HIDA Leather® は、ひとつの問いから始まりました。「木のように、革も美しく時を重ねられないだろうか？」
古い家具の革が、木部と同じように豊かに変化していたのを見て、そんな革を一から作ってみたいと思ったのが出発点です。
飛騨牛の皮は、地域で大切に育てられた命の証。その一枚一枚を、植物タンニンで丁寧に鞣し、自然な風合いや生きた痕跡をあえてそのまま残しています。傷やムラは隠すのではなく、物語として受け入れる。使いながら深まっていくその表情に、暮らしと時間が刻まれていきます。

🌱 Why We Started
A material born from the desire to age with dignity.
It began with a chair — a piece of vintage furniture whose leather had aged with the same quiet dignity as its wood. That sight stayed with us.
We asked ourselves:
If we could create leather from scratch, what would it look like?Not flawless, not mass-produced, but something that could carry its story in every mark and wrinkle.
HIDA Leather® was born from that question— a desire to craft a material that honors its origins, that invites touch, and grows with time.
それは一脚の椅子から始まりました。古い木の家具に使われていた革が、木部と同じように静かに、美しく年を重ねていたのです。その光景が、ずっと心に残りました。
「もし革を一から作れるなら、どんな革にしたいだろう？」そう考えたときに思い浮かんだのは、傷があってもよく、均一でなくてもいい。むしろ、そのひとつひとつが物語を宿した革でした。
HIDA Leather® は、その問いから生まれました。手にした人の暮らしとともに変化し、ルーツを語ることのできる素材をつくりたい――そんな想いが、始まりです。

Letting the material speak.
We believe leather should carry its natural voice. That’s why we choose not to cover it with heavy pigments or artificial coatings.
Each hide comes with marks, wrinkles, and subtle shifts in tone — signs of life that we embrace, not erase.
Like wood, no two pieces are the same. The beauty lies in its variation, and in how it deepens with touch, use, and time.
We don’t aim for uniform perfection. We aim for quiet honesty — a material that invites aging, and tells the truth of its journey.
私たちは、革には革本来の声があると考えています。だからこそ、顔料やコーティングで覆い隠すのではなく、できるだけ自然な姿をそのまま活かしたいのです。
傷、シワ、色のムラ――それらは「不完全さ」ではなく、生きていた証です。木と同じように、革も一枚一枚すべて異なります。
均一で完璧な見た目を目指すのではなく、静かな誠実さを大切にしたい。時間とともに深まり、使い手と共に物語を育てていく、そんな素材であってほしいと願っています。
🌱 Sustainability
Crafting only what’s needed—no more, no less.
HIDA Leather® is made from hides of Hida beef cattle — a limited and valuable resource raised with care in the mountains of Gifu.
We tan only what’s needed, in small batches. This allows us to maintain freshness, minimize waste, and treat every hide with the attention it deserves.
Unlike most leather, our material is not gathered from mass supply chains.Each piece is traceable to its origin, and created with full respect for the life behind it.
We don’t just aim for sustainability in production— we aim for sustainability in relationship: between forest and home, between material and time.
HIDA Leather® に使われるのは、岐阜・飛騨の山間で大切に育てられた飛騨牛の皮。限りあるこの資源を、私たちは必要な分だけ、小さく丁寧に鞣しています。
一般的な革のように大量流通されたものではなく、一枚一枚、その由来がわかる素材です。時間をかけて鞣すことで、素材本来のしなやかさと強さを引き出し、無駄なく、命を活かす革へと仕上げています。
私たちが目指しているのは、ただの「環境にやさしい素材」ではありません。森と暮らしを、素材と時間を、静かに結びなおしていくような、そんな関係の持続可能性を大切にしています。
