KURE
Traditional split roof boards from Japanese trees.
Kure are thin wooden boards split from logs, following the natural fibers of the tree.
Unlike sawn boards, they are created by splitting the wood itself, revealing the natural structure hidden inside the tree.
This technique has been used in Japan for centuries, especially for roofing materials.
榑（くれ）
木の繊維に沿って割り出して作る薄い板。製材ではなく、木を割ることで作られるため、木の内部構造がそのまま現れます。
日本では古くから屋根材として使われてきました。
